Rich was one year ahead of Monica at The University of Chicago Law School. In March 2008, their future officiant, Carla Weiss, invited them both to dinner with a big group of law school friends to an Indian restaurant. Beforehand, Carla warned Monica that Rich "might be offensive," but Monica just thought he was funny. In the next few years, over bar reviews and Google Chats, they discussed law school exams, relationships, Texas, steel-cut oatmeal, and Regent's Park, and became friends.
Rich moved to Houston after law school. When Monica moved to Houston a year later, Rich was about the only other person she knew in town. After several movies, some great meals, and many well-made drinks, they decided they were dating and just kept on. Now they’re getting married, and hopefully you are joining them!
LIKES: Pens, soda, television, horror movies, snobby music, roller coasters, Democrats, oxford commas, and Rich.
DISLIKES: Pickles, cockroaches, mouth noises, the outdoors, driving, and wedding planning.
Born in Abilene, Texas, Rich showed a great interest in art, science, and literature from an early age. An Eagle Scout, founding member of the Rich Frazier Blues Band (bonus points if you can find the recordings), and varsity student on his high school Academic Decathlon Team, his resume just barely landed him at the University of Texas. After earning two professional degrees (Finance and Accounting), some great times at the Texas Capitol Extension, and acquiring reasonable baking skills, he decided to go for a third professional degree and headed to Chicago for law school, where he met Monica.
Three years and several “why didn’t I start studying earlier” moments later, he and his fondness for Korean fried chicken moved to Houston where he started his legal career at the law firm of Baker Botts. Three years after that, he moved to Linn Energy, where he enjoys a legal practice that’s a bit friendlier to his strong preference towards a predictable schedule and gives him more time to work on his Lego Christmas Village and use his sous vide.
He makes very funny jokes and is very mysterious.
